The Cybersecurity Coach Training Course equips teachers, educators, and mentors with the skills and confidence needed to coach student teams in nationally recognized cybersecurity competitions such as CyberPatriot and similar cyber defense games.
This hands-on course is designed for educators of all subject areas—no prior cybersecurity experience required. Participants will learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity, how competitive cyber games work, and proven strategies for building, training, and managing successful student teams.
What participants will learn:
How CyberPatriot and other cybersecurity competitions are structured
Core cybersecurity concepts aligned to competition objectives
Basic system hardening, networking, and cyber defense skills
How to coach students through problem-solving and teamwork in high-pressure scenarios
Tools, resources, and practice environments for ongoing team training
Best practices for running a school-based cybersecurity club or team
By the end of the course, educators will be prepared to launch or strengthen a cybersecurity program at their school, mentor students through real-world cyber challenges, and help learners develop in-demand skills for technology and cybersecurity careers.
This course supports workforce development, digital literacy, and STEM/CTE pathways, while giving students a safe, competitive environment to learn how to defend systems and think like cybersecurity professionals.
